SAIM CAGLAYAN
Saim Caglayan was born in Istanbul, Turkiye and came to the United States in 1968 to study architecture. After three years his interest changed and he went on to complete his BA in Sculpture from California State University, Long Beach. For over twenty years he taught art at various California Community Colleges.
His love of landscape painting in 1996 motivated him to create Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. His goal was to revive the tradition of the early California painters who lived and painted in and near Laguna Beach. Today LPAPA, a non profit, has become a well respected art organization throughout the country.
After nearly three decades in California, Saim and his wife Maggie, a psychologist, decided to move to Kaua’i in 2001 and immersed themselves in the beauty of the island life and art.
